PORTLAND (WGME) -- A new mural up in Portland is part of a nationwide effort to bring attention to gun violence in America.

Kyle Holbrook, an international artist, painted the 12-by-10-foot mural in an alley off center street.

He says it's one small part of a bigger effort, to instill feelings of peace inside everyone who sees it with gun violence so rampant around the country.

"Myself, I lost most of my friends growing up to gun violence," Holbrook said. "So it's something that's dear to my heart. I've been doing these projects for years but this is something that I wanted to connect to all 50 states."
