MLK Mural at Little Haiti Cultural Center BIG NIGHT

On Friday May 17th as part of the Little Haiti Cultural Center's week long Haitian Heritage Celebration in May, they had a huge turn out for their Big Night Event. On the 3rd Friday of every month the Center has a celebration they call the Big Night. As part of MLK Mural's partnership with the Center we did an interactive live painting project that was a huge success. Saturday was flag day in Haiti so we did a large canvas of the Haitian flag that people helped create by writing messages to Haiti. Anpil moun te gen tan vini e ede nou e mesi pou tout moun ki te ekri yon message pou Manman Ayiti. Gade photo yo. Thank you to all the people who helped.

Haiti: Three Years Later

On Wednesday May 15th MLK Mural was invited to a special sneak peak of the Documentary "Haiti: Three Years Later" by WPLG Channel 10 News caster Calvin Hughes, at the Little Haiti Cultural Center as part of their week-long Haitian Cultural Celebration. The even was hosted by Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones and Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Miami Francois Guillaume. We had a nice conversation at the event about upcoming projects in Commissioner Spence-Jones' district and with the Consul Général and Calvin Hughes about past projects in Haiti and in Miami's Little Haiti.

MAC MILLER & KENDRICK LAMAR Sunfest - MLK Mural Backstage

Sunday May 5th MLK Youth Artist alumni Mac Miller invited MLK Mural backstage at Sunfest 2013 in Boca Raton. We got a rare chance to see Mac and Kendrick rock on stage together in front of an audience of thousands. We could not be more proud of Mac's success. He has come a long way from working with us on murals, music, and film to staring in his own MTV reality show and being a huge music star. Mac is proof that anything in life worth while isn't easy. It takes a lot of hard work but if you follow your dreams they can come true.

MAC MILLER former MLK Youth Artist, talks about Murals on MTV

MAC shows a lot of love in this video. We are super proud of his success. He recorded a song and video with the MLK team when he was 17, which are featured in the "Art of Life" movie. Miller joined the team when he was young, and showed great promise and talent at a very young age. He has gone on to be one of the highest grossing touring artists and now has his own show on MTV. We could not be happier for him.

ONE GROVE Mural in West Grove Unvunveiling

On the corner of Frow Avenue and Douglas, right next to the Coral Gables diesel bus garage the new MLK Mural One Grove was unveiled Saturday March 2nd 2013. It was a really nice turn out.

There was really nice coverage at not now silly blog by Headly Westerfield:

http://notnowsilly.blogspot.com/2013/03/trolleygate-brings-community-together.html

"One of the things I have heard several times recently, from more than one person, is how people used to just call it The Grove, or Coconut Grove. These days, however, people refer to North Grove, East Grove, West Grove, Black Grove, White Grove. The mural reflects the concept of One Grove, with a banner proclaiming that at the very top of the mural. Reunification seems to be the desire of the community and return to the idea that everybody is in this together."

Mural at Babb's Insurance

I went to paint a mural this week over at Babb's Insurance in the north side of Pittsburgh. The image is of a basketball and the NCAA tournament bracket. They have a fun office over there with an indoor golf range,  pool table, and ping pong table. These guys know how to enjoy themselves on their down time.

While I was there I saw one of Kyle's great Steeler's murals I had never seen before.

Check out the flix:
